California Adventure Park Opens Dining and Shopping

For the first time since March, the Disneyland Resort has opened one of its parks to guests, with only one catch: no attractions are open. But that didn’t stop droves of guests to stand in long lines for a chance to get in.

It seems even without the rides and world-class entertainment, guests are willing to wait just to be in the parks and enjoy the atmosphere. Of course Disney is offering a little bit more than that. Dining and shopping locations are opened along Buena Vista Street including Carthay Circle Restaurant and Lounge, Fidler, Fifer and Practical, Award Wieners, Elias and Co and several more.

With the state of California holding theme parks back from reopening completely under their COVID plans, Disney has gotten creative with opening California Adventure Park as an extension of Downtown Disney.

While no further announcements have been made about additional openings, Disneyland Park, including Main Street U.S.A. probably isn’t too far behind. And while Disney may or may not profit on theme park ticket sales, they certainly do on dining and merchandise.

Speaking to several local annual passholders, most of them agreed that half the fun is just being in the parks enjoying the ambiance and atmosphere that they provide. “Sometimes I’ll go into the parks and just sit, watch, grab a snack and then leave,” said Jessica R. “I don’t always ride the rides when I go in. Sometimes I just need a break from reality and enjoy the magic the parks provide.”

Guests who are wanting to head to the parks should read Disney’s current hours of operation and COVID rules. Masks are still required while on property and must be worn at all times unless eating or drinking. Social distancing is also required.
