6 Iconic Spots to Take Instagrammable Photos in Disneyland

Instagram posts about Fantasyland at Disney

1. Fantasyland

Fantasyland is arguably the most kid-friendly park in Disneyland. Luckily, for parents with small children or adults looking for picturesque Instagram spots, Fantasyland is the perfect place. The first stop is Alice’s Mad Teacup ride. Since each group of guests decide the speed of their teacup, even newborns can go on this ride. While you spin, snap pictures of your family members enjoying the ride. Or have family members snap pictures of you from outside the ride. If that is too hectic, next to the exit of the ride is a replica of the teacups that are just as easy to take pictures in.

Similarly, It’s a Small World’s beautiful exterior provides a gorgeous white background for pictures as well. Before you roam to other sections of the park, taking a picture in front of the King Arthur Carousel or riding it is a must.

2. Frontierland

Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is one of the most iconic rides at Disneyland. Another reason Big Thunder Mountain is so iconic is it was Walt Disney’s favorite ride when the park was built. By posing with one of Disneyland’s famous turkey legs in hand, or just cheesing with some friends, pictures here will add a needed cowboy flare to your feed.

Intersecting Frontierland, Fantasyland and Galaxy’s Edge is a gorgeous red rock background you can’t miss. You can regularly find characters like Woody or Jesse from Toy Story hanging around this area as well. This is another great location with minimal crowds.

Instagram posts from Tomorrowland in Disneyland

3. Tomorrowland

Tomorrowland is where the #disneywalls trend began with the famous purple wall. A few years ago, Disney-goers noticed the unique corners of Disneyland parks and how beautiful they are. The most famous of these is the purple wall located in the entrance of Tomorrowland right next to the Monsters Inc Laugh Floor. A new trend started shortly after this where people posted photos of themselves in front of different Disney walls. Explore more pictures of the #purplewall for additional inspiration.

There is also a brand new, blue wall located next to Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin that is worth checking out. Tomorrowland is filled with futuristic rides and a techno space vibe, so branch out from your typical Instagram posts and add a new galactic post to your existing feed.

4. Adventureland

Adventureland is home to many popular rides including Pirates of the Caribbean, Jungle Cruise and The Enchanted Tiki Room. While preparing to build Adventureland, Walt Disney and his team chose to create an experience that would allow Disney attendees to step outside of civilization and enter the remote jungles of Africa and Asia. Out of this idea, Adventureland was born.

To truly capture that exoctic feel, explore the area. There are a variety of hidden nooks throughout Adventureland with great photo opportunities. For example, near the Pirates of the Caribbean ride, there are several cannons poking out of the bushes. Or, taking a stroll through Tarzan’s Treehouse, formerly the Swiss Family Robinson Treehouse, is a wonderful, less-crowded option to diversify your posts. This is found in between Jungle Cruise and New Orleans Square. Adventureland is also home to the famous Dole Whip ice cream. Don’t forget to stop by the Tiki Juice Bar next to the Enchanted Tiki Room to get a picture of you holding your Dole Whip ice cream too.

5. Galaxy’s Edge

Currently, the most popular area of Disneyland is the brand new Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge. The two newest rides, Rise of the Resistance and Smuggler’s Run, have wait times of up to 6 hours just to get on the ride. Besides the rides, there are many restaurants, shops and characters to see here. You can find Rey, Kylo Ren, Storm Troopers, and Darth Vader regularly here. Be sure to snap a picture with a character, by yourself in front of the Millennium Falcon, or at the immersive shop area right next to it. Being in Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge feels like you’re on-set for the movie!

Pro tip: Go to the Milk Stand near the Smuggler’s Run to taste test Blue Milk versus Green Milk. Try posing with one or the other to let us know which is your favorite!

6. California Adventure

California Adventure is the Disney theme park across from Disneyland Magic Kingdom. This park features iconic lands such as Cars Land, Hollywood Land and Pixar Pier. We’ve compiled our favorites from each of these places to help you start exploring the park.

Cars Land is inspired by the Pixar movie Cars and allows you to walk through Radiator Springs. In addition to the Cozy Cone Motel, take a picture in front of the ‘Welcome to Cars Land’ sign at the entrance. Depending on the season, the sign changes theme as well, adding more visual interest for your Instagram feed.

Hollywood Land is famous for the big rides, like Guardians of the Galaxy–Mission: Breakout and meeting iconic Marvel characters such as Captain America or Spiderman. While here, take a picture with the San Francisco backdrop which changes depending on the season.

Pixar Pier is the most iconic part of California Adventure. The giant ferris wheel Pixar Pal-A-Round, formerly known as the Sun Wheel and Mickey’s Fun Wheel, towers over the pier with Mickey Mouse smiling down upon the Disney crowds. While exploring around the pier, look out for Disney Pixar characters from movies like Inside Out and the Incredibles. Our top recommendations for the best pier pictures are Pixar Pier doors located next to the Incredicoaster, Bing Bong’s Sweet Stuff Candy Shop, the UP wall and of course a shot of the pier from the entrance.

As one of the most magical places in the world, it’s no wonder that Disneyland is also one of the most Instagrammable. Disneyland is always expanding and creating new adventures for you and your family. Using this guide will help your pictures match the magical time you have at the park.
