Description:

French Market Restaurant: Feast on authentic fare at a quick-service venue that’s big on charm and heaping helpings of down-home hospitality. Make your menu selections inside then proceed to the garden patio, where Guests can dine al fresco under shady awnings and verdant ferns while watching the Mark Twain Riverboat paddle down Rivers of America. Laissez les bon temps rouler—let the good times roll!

Our Take:

French Market Restaurant is always serving up some of our favorite quick service dishes at the Disneyland Resort! It’s nestled back near the Disneyland R.R. New Orleans Square station and next to Cafe Orleans. It features outdoor seating with much of it shaded from the sun. Meals are served cafeteria style for the most part, so grab a tray and head down the line!

Typically your meal is made just not put together. A Cast Member will ask you what you want to eat and then he or she will call it out or make it themselves depending on what you ordered. Salads are made at the begging of the line and hot meals further down. We highly recommend the french dip sandwich! It’s thin cuts of roast beef topped with crispy onion straws and horseradish mayo. The Aus Ju is really, really good and so are the house made chips.

Our second favorite dish here is the Jambalaya. It’s full of chicken and sausage served over Louisiana rice. It’s very filling and very delicious!

Of course your meal wouldn’t be complete without their house-made Mint Julep. It’s extremely flavorful and very refreshing on a hot day.

Our only “negative” about the French Market Restaurant is the desserts. They LOOK amazing but they’ve always been mediocre in taste and quality. We would say skip them and get some beignets next door at the Mint Julep Bar.

Tips:

  1. Because the line here can get long try coming between 10:30am and 11:00am or between 2pm and 4pm. Typically the line is much shorter then.
  2. This is one quick service location that you can get free water! Just ask at the register and a Cast Member will get you a free cup of ice water whether you’re getting a meal or not!
  3. Skip the desserts. While they look really good they are just okay.
  4. Have someone sit down at a table while the other person gets the food. Because it’s cafeteria style the last thing you want is a gigantic group following you through the food line, plus you’ll want to ensure a nice shaded table outside.
