Gun Scare at Magic Kingdom Turns Out to Be Nothing

Stampede caused by “popping” sound in Magic Kingdom

We’re getting reports of a possible gun scare at Magic Kingdom park in Florida. Several people have posted on Facebook and other social media sites saying people are running out of the Park or being locked inside store buildings. We’ll try and update this post as often as possible when we get more information. Everyone be safe out there!

Update*– It sounds like there was a fight by or on the monorail, police were called but there was no shooting. Someone possibly yelled out, “gun” which caused everyone to panic. Everything seems to be back to normal at the Park. Other reports are saying that a balloon popped during the fight which caused the scare.

Lots of information coming from all over. There was no shooting though. People left in a hurry causing messes all over including the Emporium and Casey’s Corner. People reporting lots of officers in the Park. Apparently this happened during the closing of the Park. The Park closes at 10pm but you can stay up to an hour after closing. If there was an actual shooter people would not still be in the Park. Lots of live TikTok videos of people still in the Park showing how messy it is and how empty it is.

There was no evacuation even though there were reports of one. The Park will be open tomorrow. The monorails are possibly closed for the rest of the night. People are saying they can only leave by ferry. Lots of messes in stores and everywhere else in the Park, sounds like people dropped what they had and ran during the scare.

There’s probably going to be lots of stuff to clean up tonight for the employees unfortunately. But at least there wasn’t an actual gun or shooting at Magic Kingdom. It sounds like the fight on the monorail with the balloon popping is the actual story. That caused panic and people started running!

Lots of people on social media were checking to see what was happening and hoping their family and friends were ok. There have been no reports of anyone being hurt.

Here’s a statement released by Disney:

“We appreciate the immediate response of the Orange County Sheriff’s Office to quickly assess and clear the situation. Normal operations have resumed and the park is now closed for the evening.”
