Disney Parks 2023 Foodie Guide to Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month

Aside from festive parades, limited-time fireworks displays and seasonal decorations, one of the Disney Parks’ favorite way to commemorate a holiday or special celebration is with unique food and drink offerings. That includes Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month, which is held in the month of May each year. From now through the end of the month, guests can embark on a culinary adventure across the continent of Asia, from India to Thailand to Japan, and throughout the islands of Polynesia, Melanesia and Polynesian. So, bring your appetite and let’s take a look at everything that’s available!

Celebrate Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month with Something Tasty from the Disney Parks

Food is an important part of any culture around the world, but especially for those of Asian and Pacific Islander heritage. There, food isn’t merely something delicious you eat and share with the people you love. There’s often a special meaning behind it. For example, during the Lunar New Year, dumplings can symbolize good luck and prosperity, as their shape is similar to that of a coin. For Pacific Islanders, meanwhile, food represents generosity, prosperity and good will towards fellow community members.

So, if you’re traveling through Disney World or Disneyland Resort this AAPI Heritage Month, dig your chopsticks or a fork into something that is just as vibrant and complex as the cultures of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders themselves. While many of these dishes, drinks and desserts are only available during the month of May (as noted), others are offered all year round at some of the best Asian restaurants at Disney World and Disneyland Resort. Alright, let’s dig in!
