Can You Buy Disneyland Tickets at the Gate?

If you’re going to be visiting the Disneyland Resort and you’re wondering if,” can you buy Disneyland Tickets at the Gate?” I have a very quick answer for you: yes!

Disneyland tickets can be purchased at the gate by visiting any box office that’s located near the park gates, about a 30 second walk from each park. Disneyland has always offered the opportunity for guests to purchase their tickets at the gate in case they aren’t able to purchase in advance or made a last-minute decision to play at Disneyland.

While you can buy Disneyland tickets at the gate, Disney does give you every reason not to buy them at the gate. Why? Because they want you to purchase them in advance or online so that you can go right into the parks without having to wait in line.

Having followed the Disney ticket pricing and purchasing system for over 20 years, I highly agree with Disney and recommend that you buy them online or through the official Disneyland app.

The biggest reason I suggest this is really all about your time at the parks. Disneyland can be expensive and the last thing you want to do is wait in a line just to purchase your tickets, taking up valuable time inside the parks.

Buy Disneyland Tickets Online

Instead of buying Disneyland tickets at the gate I would recommend buying them online in advance. Even hours before your arrival is better than purchasing them at the gate.

If you’re purchasing multi-day tickets 48 hours in advance them you’ll want to purchase your tickets here for some savings on them.

If you are buying them same-day for multi-day tickets, be sure to visit Disneyland.com to buy your tickets.

All tickets, whether you get them several days before or the same day, are e-tickets which means you can go straight to the gate and scan them from your phone. You don’t have to print them out.

If you purchase from Get Away Today you’ll receive an email before your arrival at the parks containing your tickets. Again, you can print them but you can also just scan them from your phone which in my opinion is much easier.

If you buy them from Disneyland.com on the same day as your arrival them you’ll have the same options. Print them or just show them on your phone.

You can also link them to the Disneyland App which I’ll talk about next.

Buy Disneyland Tickets Through the App

If you are the at the parks and you’re thinking about getting in line to buy your tickets at the gate, think twice. The official Disneyland App, which can be downloaded to both Apple and Android, allows guests to purchase Disneyland tickets directly on the app.

One of the reasons I love this option the most is because you can purchase them on the app and skip the box office lines, and when you’re done, they are automatically loaded to the app so you can move on to making Fastpass reservations with MaxPass.

The reason this is important is because you’ll end up scanning your tickets from the app at the gate for entrance too. With everything already loaded onto the app you can skip several steps and get going!

I would highly recommend downloading the app before you arrive at the parks and walk through the process of purchasing. It’s fairly simple:

  1. Install and open the official Disneyland app.
  2. Log-in or create a new Disney account if you don’t have one.
  3. When the home screen loads click the little + symbol at the bottom.
  4. Click on Buy Tickets and Annual Passports.
  5. Select Theme Park Tickets.
  6. Now select the number of days you want to go and how many adults and kids.
  7. Now check out to complete your purchase and you’re done!

Can you buy Disneyland Tickets at the Disney Store?

Yes, you can visit your local Disney store and purchase tickets there. If you live close to one it can be a great option to speed up the process of buying tickets instead of at the gate.

All you need to do is bring a photo ID and valid payment card or cash to purchase. Most stores have a shelf where the park tickets are hanging, usually towards the registers. If you can’t find them just ask one of the Cast Members there.

The tickets will be actual physical cards that, once purchased and activated, can be taken straight to the gate for entrance just like e-tickets. Kee[ in mind that the Disney store sells Disneyland tickets at gate pricing so there is no discount.

The nice thing about buying from the Disney store is that you can use Disney Gift Cards if you any. Lots of people receive these as gifts from others, especially around the Holidays and using them to buy your tickets is a great way to “save” if in fact you did receive the card as a gift.

After purchasing you may be required to bring along with you an activation slip to the gate. Be sure to check with the Disney Store Cast Member for all redemption details.
