4 Exclusive Character Spots You NEED a Disney Visa Card For

Secret Character Photo Ops at Walt Disney World and Disneyland You Need to Be a Disney Visa Cardmember to Access

Looking for a reason to get a Disney Visa card? Well, we have four of them—and you’ll find them all at the Walt Disney World and Disneyland resorts. Already have one? Congrats! Not only are you already saving money on your next Disney vacation, but that handy-dandy Disney Visa credit (or debit!) card in your wallet is also the key to unlocking some super-exclusive meet-and-greet locations inside the Disney parks. And given how long the lines for meeting characters at other spots can be, that means you’re saving time, too. Ka-ching!

So, where can you find these Disney Visa cardmembers-only character experiences? Pull out that pixie-dusted piece of plastic and read on as we share all the details. Still not sold on if a Disney Visa is for you? Be sure to stick around to the end because we’ll go over some of the other benefits of the card, too. (Discounts, discounts, discounts!) Ok, let’s get started!

Disney Visa Photo Spots: What Are They and How Do You Access Them?

Character meet-and-greets are a popular addition to any visit to the Disney Parks and a quintessential part of the magic. However, as much as we love this fun theme park must-do, due to its understandable popularity, meeting your favorite Disney characters can also take up a lot of time. And as you well know, time is money, especially during a Disney vacation. That’s where this time- and money-saving perk for Disney Visa card members comes in.

Private Disney Character Experiences for Cardmembers Only

These exclusive experiences are much like other character meet-and-greet locations at Disney theme parks. However, instead of being open to all guests (meaning long lines), you must be a Disney Visa cardmember to gain access. Plus, each cardholder can bring in up to five guests, making this a great benefit for people traveling as a family.

Another thing to note about these locations is that they are much smaller. So, you will typically only be able to see a character (or two, if you’re lucky) at a time. That said, what these character spots lack in variety, they more than make up for with their exclusivity and, in turn, more intimate interactions and typically shorter wait times.

Any Photos You Take Are Completely Free

It already sounds pretty awesome, doesn’t it? But wait, there’s more! Once you’re inside, this private character experience runs just like other meet-and-greets—with one big exception. Not only will a Disney PhotoPass photographer be on hand to take pictures of you and your family, but any photos they take will be available to download completely for free. That’s right! You won’t need to buy individual prints inside the theme park or drop a bunch of cash on Memory Maker. Those free photo downloads are simply a gift to you for being a loyal Disney Visa card member.

Your Disney Visa Credit or Debit Card Is the All-Access Pass

So, how do you enjoy this magical Disney Visa card benefit? Think of your Disney Visa card as a VIP pass. To get behind the velvet rope, all you need to do is present a valid Disney Visa card for entry. It’s that simple! Today, you don’t need to have a Disney Visa credit card to get in (although that was the case in the past). Disney debit cardholders are welcome, too.

Where to Find the Disney Visa Character Photo Ops at Walt Disney World and Disneyland

Exclusive Disney Chase Visa character experiences are available to cardholders at both Walt Disney World and Disneyland, with two locations at each of the resorts. So, no matter if you’re visiting Southern California or Central Florida, you’ll still be able to see some Disney characters and save some time, all while keeping a little extra cash in your travel budget.

Best of all, each of these Disney character meet-and-greet locations will have a Disney PhotoPass photographer there and ready to capture the moment, with free photo downloads available to use however you wish. Simply show your valid Disney Visa card (either credit or debit!) to the cast member at the entrance for access.

Walt Disney World Resort

Sadly, you won’t find a Disney Visa photo spot at each of the four theme parks at Walt Disney World Resort. (Sorry, folks. If you’re heading to Magic Kingdom or Animal Kingdom, then you’re out of luck.) That said, cardmembers visiting The Most Magical Place on Earth still have two opportunities for meeting characters without the typical long lines at other meet-and-greet locations: one at in Future World at EPCOT and the other in Animation Courtyard in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. To find them once you’re in the park, all you need to do is search for “Disney Visa” in the My Disney Experience app.

Disney Character Experience in Future World at EPCOT

Although you can see Walt Disney World characters like princesses, Winnie the Pooh and Mary Poppins over in World Showcase at EPCOT, Future World is where icons like Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse and Figment, everyone’s favorite purple dragon, hang out. In fact, you can see them all at the Imagination Pavilion, which just so happens to also be the home of the park’s Disney Visa character spot. Located next to the Journey into Imagination with Figment ride, the Disney Visa card character meet-and-greet at EPCOT is open every day from 1 PM to 6:30 PM.

Characters in attendance are subject to change. However, you can usually expect to see classic friends like Mickey, Minnie, Goofy or Pluto. Better yet, there are usually two characters visiting at a time, making this private meet-and-greet even more special. Trust us—you’ll be glad you have those free photo downloads. Then, while you’re still in this animated corner of EPCOT and the Walt Disney World Resort, be sure to check out one of the other character meet-and-greet locations nearby or catch a flick at the Disney and Pixar Short Film Festival.

Star Wars Character Experience in Star Wars Launch Bay at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Are you a Star Wars fan? This next Disney Visa cardmember photo opportunity is for you. However, it isn’t in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. Instead, this character meet-and-greet at Disney’s Hollywood Studios is located at Star Wars Launch Bay in the Animation Courtyard. Hours for the Hollywood Studios character experience are a little bit shorter than the EPCOT meet-and-greet, running from 11 AM to 4 PM. So, be sure to keep an eye on the clock if you want to take advantage.

Also, unlike at EPCOT, the Disney Visa character meet-and-greet at Disney’s Hollywood Studios only features one character: Darth Vader. Sure, you could also meet Darth Vader at his regular Disney World meet-and-greet in the Launch Bay, but the cardmembers-only opportunity tends to have a shorter line. Afterward, stick around to meet Chewbacca and BB-8 or make your way over to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge for a ride on Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run or a cocktail at Oga’s Cantina.

Disneyland Resort

Just like at Disney World, guests at Disneyland Resort have access to two Disney Visa-exclusive character opportunities, with locations at each of the parks. To take advantage of them during your visit, just select “PhotoPass” from the dropdown at the top of the map tab in the Disneyland app and present your Disney Visa credit or debit card to the cast member at the entrance to the character experience.

Disney Character Experience in Hollywood Land at Disney California Adventure Park

Hoping for a chance to see some iconic Disney characters during your visit to the theme park (including one that you can typically only see during special Disneyland events)? Then head over to Hollywood Land in Disney California Adventure Park for this exciting meet-and-greet. The experience takes place near Stage 17, not far from Monsters, Inc. Mike & Sulley to the Rescue and is open daily from 10:30 AM to 1:30 PM. That’s right—you only have three short hours to squeeze this private cardmember photo opportunity into your visit, so be sure to plan accordingly.

Although you can’t usually meet Mickey Mouse here, as he greets guests in other parts of the park, characters you can see here are Minnie Mouse, Pluto or Stitch (only one at a time—you won’t see any pairs here like you can in EPCOT at Disney World). As much as we love Pluto and Minnie, Stitch is the real draw here because the only other times he is out for meet-and-greets is during special events. So, don’t be surprised if the line to get in is a bit longer than the character experience over in Disneyland Park. Keep in mind that you won’t know which character is holding court until you get in line, as cast members tend to keep it pretty hush-hush. However, you can always get in line and try again if you don’t get to see Stitch the first time around.

Star Wars Photo Opportunity in Star Wars Launch Bay at Disneyland Park

Just like at Walt Disney World Resort, Disneyland also has its own Star Wars character experience for Disney Visa card members. And just like at Disney World, the one at Disneyland Park also takes place at Star Wars Launch Bay, which is located in Tomorrowland just across from Autopia, and features (you guessed it) Darth Vader. (Are you seeing a pattern here?) Be aware that if Darth Vader isn’t in attendance (he gets pretty busy taking care of the Dark Side), you might get a Star Wars-inspired Magic Shot instead. The Disney Visa cardmember meet-and-greet at Disneyland Park is available daily from 2 PM to 6 PM.
