Disney World Confirms Return Of Park Hopping For 2021

As the phased reopening of the Walt Disney World Resort continues, Disney has made several announcements in the past week confirming its commitment to get the parks back to normal operations.

First, Disney announced that they would be increasing resort capacity from 25% to 35%. As part of their reopening plan with the state of Florida, they started out operating at 25% of normal capacity. This has helped them facilitate new guidelines such as social distancing and the way queues would operate.

Now, 4 months in, they have increased to 35% while maintaining COVID guidelines.

Second, Disney just confirmed that the park hopper option will return in 2021 for guests who have purchased park hopper tickets. While Disney has been selling park hopper tickets for 2021 for some time, until this point, they had never confirmed that it would return.

Guests who had purchased park hopper tickets for 2020 were given options to return their tickets and purchase new ones or hold on to them until park hopping returned. Now that it’s been confirmed, guests can start planning their visits with a few additional guidelines.

First, park hopping will be functioning a bit differently when it returns. Here are some of the new changes that will apply Jan. 1st, 2021:

  • Guests must still make a park reservation in advance.
  • Guests must enter the park pass park FIRST that day.
  • At 2pm, guests may park hop to a different park, no park pass reservation required.
