Every year from September 15 to October 15, Hispanic and Latin American Heritage Month shines a light on the colorful cultural and culinary traditions of Spain, Mexico, Central and South America and the Caribbean. Día de los Muertos (the Day of the Dead) comes closely behind, celebrated in Mexico on November 1 and 2. Running from September 1 to November 2, 2023, Plaza de la Familia at Disneyland Resort pays tribute both of those celebrations, as well as the “everlasting bonds of family” that are at the heart of the beloved Disney and Pixar film, Coco.
Just as vibrant as the scenes of Día de Muertos that play out throughout the movie and across Mexico, Plaza de la Familia at Paradise Gardens in Disney California Adventure Park brings music, arts and crafts inspired by Mexico’s alebrije spirit guides, photo ops with family and friends, opportunities to honor departed loved ones and, of course, lots of delicioso food.
So, if you’re heading to Disneyland Resort sometime in September, October or the beginning of November, keep reading as we dig into the limited-time dishes, desserts and drinks that are being cooked up at California Adventure Park and Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa especially for the occasion. ¡Olé!
