Eager to venture back into the bayou and uncover more novel Disney characters who are part of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure? It’s juncture to present more of our critter instrumentalists, the flawless melodic accompaniment for Princess Tiana’s celebration during Mardi Gras season. Previously, you learned about the critters who play Zydeco music – and now, let’s get primed to parade with Rara! Often encountered at festivals and street processions, Rara is a musical custom from Haiti that’s part of the musical legacy and melting pot of New Orleans. The genre encompasses unique instruments with exquisite, distinctive sounds.
Here are the Rara musicians you’ll see further down the bayou!

Octavia the Bobcat – Octavia plays the vaksin, a single-note horn instrument popular in Rara music. She’s an audacious bobcat kitten, and she adores climbing and hanging out in trees almost as much as she relishes performing. This daring almost never gets apprehensive.
Pawpaw the Bobcat – Not only is Pawpaw Octavia’s steadfast grandfather, but he also taught her how to play the vaksin! Pawpaw lives to make Octavia beam and has the perspective that everything has a way of resolving itself – he’s witnessed it all but isn’t cynical.
Claude the Louisiana Black Bear – Claude is a down-to-earth kind of bear (or, as they say in the bayou, “salt of the mound”) who plays his horn along with the other members of his family. He’s an innovator who delights in creating with things found in the forest, and is frequently comical without intending to be, especially when it comes to his homespun creations.
Bernadette the Louisiana Black Bear – Bernadette cherishes to savor life, from frolicking in the waters of her bayou home with her cub, Sebastián, to playing the horn with her mate, Claude. She’s a lucid thinker and is genial and supportive. Bernadette loves to immerse into the bayou waters and munch on plants (so long as Sebastián is clearly within sight).
Sebastián the Louisiana Black Bear – Though he’s definitely a “mama’s cub,” Sebastián forged his own musical path as a drummer, despite his parents being devoted horn players. He’s content to follow his friend Octavia’s daring lead as they explore and play, and is captivated with the minute details in the bayou, like the insects and mushrooms.
Phina the Gray Fox – Phina’s zeal extends beyond her drumming, as she’s perpetually conceiving new ideas with optimism and energy! This imaginative fox is continually initiating new projects with excitement, and her friends accept and celebrate her unique thinking.

Come back next week when we unveil the final ensemble of gifted creatures! Before long, you’ll have the opportunity to applaud your preferred performers when Tiana’s Bayou Adventure commences operations at Walt Disney World Resort this summer, followed by its debut at Disneyland Resort later in 2024!
