Disney World Castle in the evening

Temporary Closure of Walt Disney World Resort

A message from the Walt Disney Company:

“In an abundance of caution and in the best interest of our Guests and Cast Members, we are proceeding with the closure of our theme parks at Walt Disney World® Resort, beginning March 16, through the end of the month.

The Walt Disney Company will pay its Cast Members during that closure period.

Disney Resort hotels will remain open until further notice. Disney Springs will also remain open.

We will continue to stay in close contact with appropriate officials and health experts.”

Guests who planned to travel during the closure period will receive a refund of their hotel or the opportunity to reschedule.

For park tickets, they have automatically be extended for a visit anytime between April 1st, 2020 and Dec. 20th, 2020. No block out dates or having to pay more to visit on busier days like the summer.

Guests should contact Disney or their travel agent for more details. Disney has sent out emails to all guests relaying this information as well.

Currently phones lines are jammed with wait times longer than 2-3 hours. If you feel the urgency to cancel or rebook, it may be worth waiting a few days. Disney will get things taken care of for you as they understand the situation. You’re at no risk of losing your monies during this closure.
