A Celebration of Festival of the Lion King Opens May 15

A Celebration of Festival of the Lion King opens at Disney’s Animal Kingdom on May 15.

There have been a few changes to the show since Guests last saw it. While the majesty and splendor is all there, staging and choreography have been updated with safety protocols in mind for both performers and Guests. Additionally, other parts of the show have been pared down, including the acrobatics, but the rest of the cast is sure to dazzle.

Because guests are still socially distancing as part of Disney’s health and safety measures, the opportunity to view A Celebration of Festival of the Lion King during a visit to the park will be very limited. To give more people a chance to enjoy it, a one-time live stream will be available on May 15 at 12:25 p.m. ET on the Disney Parks Blog. Be sure to tune in to the first official show and join in the fun!

Festival of the Lion King has been closed for over a year since the beginning of the pandemic. Even when the resort reopened in July 2021, major shows including Festival of the Lion King and Finding Nemo The Musical have remained closed until now. Festival will be the first to reopen. No word on when other shows will be reopening but our guess would be before the end of summer.
