Disney After Hours ‘BOO BASH” Coming To Magic Kingdom

It’s official. Disney will be bringing back the Halloween Magic this year. Although it might not be quite the same as previous years, it’s something, and we’ll take it. The ‘After Hours BOO BASH’ event will take place select nights in August, September and October of 2021.

What is the BOO BASH event?

The BOO BASH event will be held at Magic Kingdom theme park and is a way for Disney World guests to get in on the fun of Halloween. The event will run for 4 hours starting at 9pm to midnight with a few select nights running a bit longer. Guests are allowed to dress up in their Halloween costumes and enjoy the park attractions, characters, dining and shopping.

Disney’s previous event, Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween, has been replaced, at least for now, by the BOO BASH event. Disney has not said if MNSSH will be coming back or not. Our guess is that the BOO BASH event is a safe way for Disney to celebrate Halloween while keeping in line with COVID safety measures.

Guests of all ages are welcome to attend the event. Adult and Child tickets will cost the same price. This includes anyone 3 and up. It is a separately ticketed event and only allows you access to the parks starting as early as 7pm. Access to the parks before the event requires guests to have a separate ticket.

The experience offers low wait times at more than 20 attractions from classics like The Haunted Mansion and Space Mountain, to newer favorites like Seven Dwarfs Mine Train.

Spooky festivities will include Halloween-themed cavalcades, character sightings throughout the park, special performances by the Cadaver Dans, décor, lighting, music, treat stops with plenty of candy and so much more!

When do BOO BASH tickets go on sale?

Tickets for the BOO BASH event will go on sale in June. Guests who are staying at a Disney Property Hotel during an event time will receive early access to tickets. Disney has not released a price yet for BOO BASH tickets but we suspect they will run around $75-$100 per person.

If you’re looking to purchase discounted BOO BASH tickets you can see our friends at Undercover Tourist. You’ll also be able to save on regular park tickets as well for the rest of the time you’re at the parks. Park Pass Reservations will not be required for the event.

Will there be trick or treating at the BOO BASH event?

Yes. Just like at the MNSSH parties of the past, guests will have the opportunity to trick or treat and fill their bags with Halloween candy. While the event typically provides bags for guests as they enter the park, we highly recommend you bring your own as well. Most guests find that they fill their provided bags quickly and, because there’s no limit to how much you can get, you’ll want the extra room!

Both adults and kids can trick or treat during the event. Younger guests must be accompanied by an adult.

Can we bring costumes to the BOO BASH event?

Guests young, old and immortal can dress in costume for the occasion and get their fill of Halloween candy. As an important reminder, costume masks are not permitted for adults; they can only be worn by children younger than 14. In addition, all Guests are required to wear approved face coverings during the event.
