Disney World Removing Genie+ Pre-Sales Starting June 8th

Guests Will Now Have To Purchase Day-Of

Disney announced today that beginning June 8, Disney Genie+ will only be offered through the My Disney Experience app on the day of visit – guests will no longer have the option to purchase the Genie+ service pre-arrival as a ticket add-on for dates remaining in 2022 and in 2023.

This means that, moving forward, whether guests have an Annual Pass, multi- or single-day ticket, they will now have to purchase Disney Genie+ on the day of their visit via the My Disney Experience app, one day at a time, subject to availability. We highlight the subject to availability because Disney is now hinting at the fact that they may sell-out of Genie+ on any given day based on demand.

Disney added that guests should continue to expect to be able to booking 2-3 Genie+ selections each day for Lightning Lane use. This is the average amount of attractions guests have been getting on via Lightning Lanes according to Disney. It should be noted that most guests who match these numbers are probably new to the Genie+ service and have little to no experience using it. For guests who read about the service and use different hacks like speed, stacking and booking guides, tend to be able to get more like 5-6 attractions booked in a day.

Disney went on to say that any guests who have already purchased Genie+ as a pre-arrival add-on will have them honored. The new changes to Genie+ will only affect the Walt Disney World Resort. The Disneyland Resort continues to sell Genie+ as a pre-arrival add-on.

Lastly, Disney talked about the early theme park entry benefit for Disney Resort hotel guests will continue for visits throughout all of 2023, giving Resort guests the first chance to enjoy select attractions at every theme park, every day.
