Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel Review

If you’re thinking about staying at the Disney Paradise Pier Hotel, chances are you’re planning on visiting nearby Disneyland and California Adventure. This playful piece of beachfront property and others like it are the inspiration behind Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel, making for a relaxing retreat that is as charming as it is restful. Stick with us as we go over everything this family-friendly hotel has to offer. (Updated September 8, 2022)

Staying at the Disney Paradise Pier Hotel

If your vacation isn’t complete without a lazy beach day, then Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel is for you. Taking its inspiration from laidback beachfront boardwalks of yesteryear, this easygoing Disneyland hotel transports guests to the California coast without ever having to brave the brutal Los Angeles-area traffic.

Add in next-level perks like rooftop pools, fireworks views, a convenient location just a short walk from the theme parks and just a sprinkling of Disney magic and you’ve got the perfect stay for kids and adults alike. Plus, with a range of room types to choose from – like standard rooms, spacious suites and even club-level service – it’s ideal for everyone from couples to large families or groups.

Coming Soon! A Pixar-inspired Reimagining

You won’t be able to do any California dreamin’ at Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel for too much longer, as Disney has announced that the Disneyland Resort’s most affordable hotel will soon undergo a Pixar-style makeover. This larger-than-life reimagining will transform the hotel with colorful touches inspired by beloved Pixar films, as well as icons like Luxo, Jr., the charming desk lamp, and the star ball.

Best of all, the renovation also brings a brand-new walkway that connects the hotel to Disney California Adventure Park – and it’s already open to hotel guests. Stay tuned for more details.

Paradise Pier Hotel Prices

If you’re looking for the most affordable place to stay at Disneyland, this is it. Of the three Disneyland Resort hotels, a night at the Paradise Pier Hotel costs the least, ringing in at around $100 less nightly than the Disneyland Hotel and between roughly $250 to $600 less than the luxe Grand Californian Hotel & Spa. However, that doesn’t mean that it’s cheap, since you’ll still usually pay around $250 to $600 or more per night.

Additionally, keep in mind that unless you’re a Disney Vacation Club member, parking isn’t free. (DVC members receive complimentary parking for up to two vehicles.) So, if you take your vehicle to Disney, be prepared to pay a nightly parking fee on top of your room rate.

Pool slide and pool

Self-parking costs $35 per night for each vehicle, or $40 if you’re parking an oversized vehicle. Or, for those looking to splash out, you can also valet park for $50 per night.

Disneyland Paradise Pier Hotel Amenities

While Paradise Pier may be the thriftiest hotel of the bunch, that doesn’t mean that it skimps on the amenities. In fact, arguably one of the best hotel perks at Disneyland can be found at the Paradise Pier Hotel: a rooftop pool with firework views.

Paradise Pier Restaurants

While Disney’s PCH Grill, the hotel’s former character dining and buffet restaurant, is gone for good, there are still some tasty dining options available at the Paradise Pier Hotel. Can’t find anything you like? Just walk to nearby Downtown Disney!

The Sand Bar

The Sand Bar takes poolside dining to a whole new level, literally. This rooftop pool bar dishes up elevated California-style bar bites alongside panoramic views of the Disneyland Resort. Wash it all down with something boozy or kid-friendly mocktail. Open for lunch, dinner and drink service

Surfside Lounge

Overhead shot of the Paradise Pier Hotel pool

Trips to the beach call for kicking back and relaxing. So, unwind from morning to late night at the Surfside Lounge. This casual sit-down restaurant specializes in American favorites, occasionally spiced up with some global flavors, and evening drinks. Open for breakfast, lunch, dinner and late-night service

Self-Service Market

Looking for a quick snack on your way to the theme parks or back to your room? The Self-Service Market just off the Paradise Pier Hotel lobby makes for a convenient stop for readymade food and drinks. Open for grab-and-go food and drinks

Paradise Pier Hotel Pools & Other Recreation

What kind of beach-inspired paradise would this be if there wasn’t a great pool to splash around in? Although the design of the pool is relatively simple, pops of bright colors straight off the boardwalk and an unbeatable location atop the third floor make Paradise Pool an ideal place to laze the day away – or night, especially when the sky lights up with the Disneyland fireworks and the soundtrack is piped in.

Without a doubt, the star of Paradise Pool is California Streamin’, a sunshine-yellow waterslide styled after the classic coasters of the boardwalk or oceanfront pier. For a more mellow time, unwind from all your theme park adventures with a soak in the Paradise Spa whirlpool as you watch your little ones dip their to toes in at the Children’s Pool. And while you’re there, be sure to get something tasty from The Sand Bar.

For those who prefer to get fit by running or lifting weights, The Fitness Center – found on the second floor – is equipped with everything you may need for working out at Disneyland, such as cardio machines, weight machines and free weights. And if your kids need their own mini-retreat to relax, the Paradise Theater screening room shows entertainment all day long on its special sandcastle-shaped TV, complete with beach chairs for lounging.

Paradise Pier Hotel Merchandise Location

Whether you’re searching for a memento of your trip or just need to replace something you forgot back home, there’s a good chance Mickey in Paradise will have what you need. With plushies, apparel, snacks and more, it’s a dream for shopping lovers looking for that perfect souvenir.

Hoping to explore the area a bit more but didn’t bring a car? While you can’t buy one, you can rent one at the on-site Enterprise Rent-A-Car location.

Can you see Disneyland fireworks from the Paradise Pier Hotel?

Yes! Arguably some of the best hotel views of the Disneyland fireworks can be had from the Paradise Pier pool. Seriously, what’s not to like about watching the show while you float around from three floors above the ground? You can also catch the display from the neighboring pool bar, The Sand Bar. They even play the music and narration, so you don’t have to miss out on the magic.

How long does it take to walk to the Disneyland entrance?

If you are going to Disneyland Park, you’ll need to account for around a 15-minute walk. However, if you are heading to California Adventure, you can now use the hotel’s dedicated walkway to shorten your trek substantially. If you want to go to Downtown Disney, plan on around five minutes.
