polynesian village hotel

The Polynesian Village Hotel is a Deluxe Hotel at Walt Disney World!

The Polynesian Village Hotel is right across the lake from the Magic Kingdom theme park. It sits lakefront with access to some great beach area and monorail access to Magic Kingdom & EPCOT. For its location and amazing service and amenities we’ve rated it 4.5 out of 5 stars.

Location: Magic Kingdom area

Description:

Celebrate the spirit of the South Pacific at this oasis of tropical palms, lush vegetation and so much more. From moonlit nights immersed in the outdoor island ambience to the exotic tastes of our world-class restaurants, discover the signature tropical atmosphere that’s made Disney’s Polynesian Village Hotel a favorite Disney destination since 1971.

Our Take

It’s not the best hotel in the Magic Kingdom area nor is it the closest to the Magic Kingdom theme park but the Polynesian Village Hotel is a great hotel with a fun family theme. The rooms are a bit older unless you’re staying in the new villas including the overwater bungalows. There are several great restaurant here for eating as well as many outdoor activities.

Our favorite thing about the Polynesian Village Hotel is its stand alone Dole Whip shop, Pineapple Lanai. We LOVE Dole Whip and this place serves it all day long. No other hotel offers it outside of the Magic Kingdom theme park. Be sure to try the Vanilla and Pineapple swirl, it’s amazing!

For breakfast be sure to make some reservations for Ohana. It serves breakfast, lunch and dinner but breakfast is our favorite. The Polynesian French Toast is gigantic and delicious! It’s a huge chunk of french toast covered in some sugar and your favorite syrup and a topping. It’s a must-try!

You can take the monorail from the Polynesian Village Hotel to Magic Kingdom. It comes every 5 minutes barring any delays and the first stop is Magic Kingdom park. The line also goes to the Contemporary Resort and the Grand Floridian Resort. Both hotels offer some great dining experiences for you to enjoy! The fourth stop on this line is the Ticket and Transportation station which is where you can get off and and switch to the monorail that takes you to EPCOT. The whole thing will take about 20 minutes.

Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto is one of the best bars at Walt Disney World. Much like its sister restaurant at Disneyland, this Trader Sam’s is a tiki themed bar serving up some fantastic island drinks and finger foods. Our favorite drink is the Tiki Tiki Tiki Tiki Tiki Rum. Be sure to get there early as this place gets busy every night!

Pros:

  • Close to the Magic Kingdom theme park.
  • Monorail access to Magic Kingdom & EPCOT.
  • Great views of Seven Seas Lagoon and the Magic Kingdom fireworks at night.
  • Ferry boat to the Magic Kingdom theme park.
  • Dole Whip stand at the hotel.
  • Make your FastPass+ reservations 60 days in advance by staying here!
  • Receive free Magic Bands when you book this hotel!
  • Free transportation to and from Orlando Intl. Airport when you book this hotel!

Cons:

  • It’s not super close to any of the other theme parks.
  • This means more busing around.
  • Older rooms in original buildings.
