Disney World Reopening Journal Day 2 – Arrival

After spending a Cast Preview day at Magic Kingdom, we took off to Anaheim CA for the reopening of Downtown Disney.

After doing that, we flew back to Orlando to start our next several days staying on property and being there for the official reopening.

Our flights went great, no issues. Everyone wore masks and everyone seemed to be okay with it. Very pleasant flights.

Arriving at Orlando International Airport, we went to the baggage carousel and picked up our checked luggage. Disney has modified how they are doing this so be sure to read our full guide about the changes for Magic Express.

After grabbing our luggage we went over to the Magical Express boarding area. It’s was 3pm EST and there was no line.

Cast Members are behind sneeze guards but still scanning MagicBands.

We went into line #2 for our bus to Bay Lake Tower/Contemporary Resort. There are blue lines taped on the ground to help space groups apart.

We were technically still in the airport so we think if you need to take your mask off for a minute or two (the back of our ears hurt) it’s okay.

Once we were on the bus though we kept them on.

The bus is being filled every other row and side. So we sat in row 12 on the left side, then there were people in row 11 on the right side and then a lady in row ten on the left side. This is how they are social distancing on the bus.

The nice thing is that the busses weren’t full. They did wait a while before leaving though, we sat for about 15 minutes before they finally took off.

Our bus made 3 stops at 3 different resorts.

After arriving at our resort (Bay Lake Tower) we skipped the front desk and headed straight to our room.

Disney is encouraging guests to do this so we highly recommend downloading the Walt Disney World App where you can see all your MDE stuff including tickets, resort hotel and room, dining, FastPass+ and more.

On our walk, we noticed sign all over the place reminding guests about social distancing and good health habits.

Since guests can just go straight to their rooms when they are ready, you can use your MagicBands or your cellphone to unlock your door. Super simple and very convenient.

If you do need to stop by the front desk for anything, you can. They have lines marked off for social distancing.

The hotel itself wasn’t very busy at all. Walking around, everyone was wearing masks which we’ve come to expect. We actually didn’t have any dining planned for that night because we were so tired from going back and forth across the county.

We’re actually just spending one night at Bay Lake Tower and then moving over to the Main Tower at Contemporary Resort in the morning for the rest of our stay.

Tomorrow is the big reopening day for Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom.

Because we did our preview at Magic Kingdom, we will be spending our first official day at Animal Kingdom theme park.

Our initial goal is to arrive 1 hour before park opening via Uber or LYFT and see where we fall in crowds (if any). Our time to enter the park is at 8am so we will leave just before 7am.

Part of our updates tomorrow will be how this went and what we would change or not change for arriving at the parks.

Be sure to follow our blog, Facebook account and Instagram (Park Savers) as we will be providing updates throughout the day on wait times, dining, shopping, shows, characters and more!

Until then, Cheers!
