A Families Guide to LEGOLAND Florida Theme Park

When it comes to pint-sized thrills and family fun in Central Florida, it’s big-name attractions like Walt Disney World and Universal Orlando that usually first come to mind. However, you’ll actually find the Orlando area’s most family-friendly destination a bit further down I-4.

With its imaginative rides and buildings “built” out of colorful LEGO bricks, entertaining shows and hotels designed just for kids, the LEGOLAND Florida Resort is a winner for families with children. Read on as we break down all you need to know about this playful park.

LEGOLAND Orlando, Florida’s Most Awesome, Kid-Friendly Theme Park

Spanning 150 acres, LEGOLAND Park pays homage to generations of brick-fueled fun. With buildings “created” out of those famous bricks around every corner, it really feels like a LEGO world brought to life. But, that’s not the only nostalgic element you’ll find around LEGOLAND.

Housed on what was once Cypress Gardens, Florida’s original theme park, LEGOLAND Florida also offers a more natural escape in the form of a verdant botanical garden. Leftover from the theme park’s charming predecessor, the garden is a slice of Old Florida.

Where is LEGOLAND in Florida?

The LEGOLAND Resort is about an hour- to an hour-and-a-half drive away from Orlando’s theme park central in Winter Haven, Florida. Located at the site of the former Cypress Gardens, Florida’s first-ever tourist attraction, the theme park sits at 1 Legoland Way, Winter Haven, Florida 33884.

When planning your trip to LEGOLAND, be sure to account for traffic. The I-4 corridor can get crazy-busy at all hours of the day and night and accidents are frequent.

Parking at the LEGOLAND Florida Resort

Since LEGOLAND is quite a ways from the Orlando airport and other Central Florida theme parks, chances are good that you’ll be driving there yourself. So, be prepared to pay for parking. Here are LEGOLAND’s current parking fees:

  • Cars: $25
  • Campers/RVs: $32
  • Motorcycles: $12
  • Preferred Parking: $40

Stay at the LEGOLAND Hotels

Not sure where you should stay at LEGOLAND in Florida? While you could choose one of the typical chain hotels near LEGOLAND Florida, keep the brick-inspired, creative fun flowing by staying at one of the LEGOLAND hotels instead. Just like LEGO, these colorful, family-friendly hotels were designed specifically for kids. Plus, they come with a range of perks to please big and little LEGO fans alike, such as:

  • Free breakfast and self-parking
  • Separate sleeping area for kids (with bunk beds!) in every room
  • Outdoor pools
  • A mini-golf course
  • Child-centered activities like in-room scavenger hunts with LEGO prizes, complimentary Creative Workshops with a Master Builder and nightly entertainment, including pajama parties, storytime and trivia

LEGOLAND Florida hotels include:

Pirate Island Hotel

Sail the seven seas as a LEGO buccaneer at Pirate Island Hotel. Just steps away from LEGOLAND Park, this convenient hotel offers all-ye-can-care-to-feast dining served family-style, meet-and-greets with LEGO pirates and much more.

LEGOLAND Hotel

Florida’s hotel ode to LEGO, the LEGOLAND Hotel offers choose-your-own-adventure accommodations. Rooms are available in five different themes: Adventure, Kingdom, LEGO Friends, Pirate or THE LEGO MOVIE.

LEGOLAND Beach Retreat

Nestled about a half-mile from the LEGOLAND Theme Park along the shores of Lake Dexter, what Beach Retreat lacks in convenience, it more than makes up for with charm. Just as vibrant as any island cottage, this downright adorable collection of brick bungalows touts waterfront views and blissful privacy.

LEGOLAND Hours

LEGOLAND Florida hours are both incredibly consistent and all over the place. Although the park opens reliably at 10 AM every day throughout the year, its closing time varies greatly, from as early as 5 PM to as late as 9 PM. So, make sure to check the schedule when planning your visit.

LEGOLAND Tickets & Annual Passes

Whether you’re planning just a day or two of brick-filled fun or hoping to return throughout the year, LEGOLAND Florida has you covered. Depending on how much they want to visit and the parks they’d like to see, LEGO fans can choose between two different admission options: daily tickets (both single and multi-park) and annual passes.

Daily LEGOLAND Florida Tickets

If you and your brick-building crew can only go for one or two days, this ticket option is for you. Guests can choose from one-day to three-day tickets and, if wanted, add on multi-park access. This allows you to hop back and forth between LEGOLAND Florida’s theme park and water park, along with the neighboring Peppa Pig Theme Park, as much as your LEGO-loving heart desires.

Like at Disney and Universal, LEGOLAND tickets use dynamic pricing. In other words, tickets are more expensive during busy times of year, such as holidays or weekends, while traveling during the slow season means lower rates.

Tickets can be purchased either directly at the park for full price or in advance on LEGOLAND’s website for at least 10% off. (Or, keep reading for even more – and better – LEGOLAND discount tickets.) Here are the current advance purchase prices for LEGOLAND Orlando tickets, including taxes and fees:

  • 1-Day, 1-Park Ticket – $93.93 to $115.33
  • 1-Day, 2-Park Ticket – $120.68 to $142.08
  • 2-Day, 1-Park Ticket – $120.68 to $142.08
  • 2-Day, 2-Park Ticket – $131.38 to $152.78
  • 2-Day, 3-Park Ticket – $158.13 to $179.53
  • 3-Day, 2-Park Ticket – $158.13 to $179.53
  • 3-Day, 3-Park Ticket – $174.18 to $195.58

LEGOLAND Annual Passes

Can’t get enough of this family-friendly, brick-built world? Whether you’re a Florida Resident or out-of-state visitor, if you’d like to go to LEGOLAND Orlando as much as you want during the year, you might be better off with an annual pass. The Florida LEGOLAND offers several yearly options, from the resident-exclusive Brick Pass to the ultimate Awesomest Pass.

In addition to unlimited admission (almost unlimited for the Brick Pass – blockout dates apply), LEGOLAND Florida Annual Passes also come with some great benefits, such as:

  • Free parking

  • Florida theme park-exclusive collectibles
  • Reserved show seating
  • Discounts on park admission, hotel stays, merchandise, dining and digital photo downloads
  • Free guest passes

Keep in mind that perks, such as a Monthly Pay option for Florida Residents, vary based on which annual pass you choose. Here are the current LEGOLAND  Annual Pass prices when paid in full, including taxes and fees:

  • Brick Pass (Florida Residents only) – $131.38
  • Awesome Pass – $195.58
  • Awesomer Pass – Sold out, $229.99 pre-tax
  • Awesomest Pass – $323.98

Other LEGOLAND Discount Tickets & Deals

Not sold on using Undercover Tourist just yet? There are some other places you can look for deals on cheap LEGOLAND tickets.

Costco is a popular place to score LEGOLAND discount tickets – when they’re available, anyway. Unfortunately, they aren’t always available; and when they are, you typically need to buy them as part of a full vacation package. We’re talking a complete vacation package, complete with flights, hotel nights and a rental car.

AAA offers LEGOLAND tickets at a discounted rate, but since ticket options are region-specific, you may not have access to them depending on where you live and which park you want to go to. Plus, you need to be a AAA member just to access them.

Are you or were you a member of the armed forces? You’re in luck! The LEGOLAND military discount for the Florida theme park is the cheapest of all: Free (or very deeply discounted)! If you’re active duty, just show your military ID at the door. Otherwise, go to the Tickets & Travel office at your base’s MWR

Have a “Brick-tastic” Time at the LEGOLAND Rides & Shows

Wondering what kid-friendly fun LEGOLAND Florida has in store for your next family vacation? Jam-packed with over 50 different LEGO-inspired attractions to choose from, including a playful mix of both rides and shows, LEGO fans of all ages can build the trip of their dreams.

The theme park is split up into several different lands, each styled after some of LEGO’s most beloved product lines and builds. In addition to the LEGOLAND Water Park, they include: The Beginning, Cypress Gardens, DUPLO Valley, Fun Town, Heartlake City, Imagination Zone, Land of Adventure, LEGO City, LEGO Kingdoms, LEGO NINJAGO WORLD, LEGO Technic, MINILAND USA and THE LEGO MOVIE World.

LEGOLAND Florida Rides & Attractions

So, what kind of rides and other attractions are at LEGOLAND Florida? From elaborate playgrounds and the toddler paradise that is DUPLO Valley to approachable roller coasters and carnival-style rides with a “brick-tastic” twist, this creative theme park is about as family-friendly as it gets.

LEGO is all about getting hands-on. And while you can certainly put your construction skills to good use while exploring the park, there’s a whole lot more interactive fun to enjoy at LEGOLAND that isn’t just tinkering with bricks.

Try your luck at LEGO NINJAGO The Ride or Lost Kingdom Adventure, dark rides with a competitive streak, or challenge your strength and power your experience at attractions like Kid Power Towers and the Technicycle. Afterwards, cool off over at the water-filled Battle of Bricksburg or with a cruise on one of the AQUAZONE Wave Racers.

Looking for pint-sized thrills at the LEGOLAND Resort? Florida’s outpost features a number of pink-knuckle attractions (no white-knuckling it here), including four different roller coasters, with minimum height requirements topping out at a mere 44 inches.

Need a break from all that excitement? Take time to explore the park’s beautiful botanical gardens, a lush remnant from when LEGOLAND was actually Cypress Gardens. Then, take a whimsical tour of the United States over at MINILAND USA as you wander past detailed LEGO recreations of iconic destinations, such as the grand monuments of Washington DC’s National Mall, Las Vegas Strip, skyscraper-in-miniature-filled streets of New York City and Florida’s Kennedy Space Center.

LEGOLAND Florida Shows

Wish you could see some of your favorite LEGO characters in real life? At LEGOLAND Florida, you can! Along with character meet-and-greets, you can also take in one of the park’s laugh-out-loud shows. While LEGO MYTHICA 4D – Journey to Mythica, LEGOLAND’s 4D film is a great way to soak up some A/C and rest your feet for a while, our favorite LEGOLAND show is Brickbeard’s Watersport Stunt Show. Featuring everything from wakeboarding and barefoot water skiing to gravity-defying acts like the flyboard and ski pyramid, it’s truly unlike any other theme park show in Central Florida.

And Don’t Miss the LEGOLAND Florida Water Park!

Although it’s technically a separately ticketed destination, one of the best attractions at LEGOLAND Florida is the attached water park. Stocked with a lazy river, wave pool and 14 water slides, there’s no better way to cool down on a hot Orlando day.

Go Shopping at the LEGOLAND Theme Park & Take the Fun Home

In our opinion, hunting for keepsakes can be almost as much fun as going on rides. And what better souvenir for your trip to LEGOLAND than a LEGO building set or other brick-themed merch?

Fortunately, whether you’re searching for exclusive sets, bricks in bulk, one engraved with your name or just a simple t-shirt, you’ll find it all at LEGOLAND Park. There’s even a store geared especially towards girls, Heartlake Mall, that sells items like jewelry and LEGO Friends sets.

LEGOLAND Florida FAQs

Still not sure if LEGOLAND Park in Florida is for you and your family? Here are some answers to some frequently asked questions.

How many days do you need at LEGOLAND Florida?

Although there is a lot to see and do there – including over 50 rides, shows and other attractions – Florida’s LEGOLAND Theme Park is relatively small compared to some of its Central Florida neighbors. In fact, while LEGOLAND recommends a full day to enjoy the theme park, if you want to do it all, you could spend a full two days experiencing absolutely everything. Add in visits to the LEGOLAND Florida Water Park and, if you have a preschooler, the brand-new Peppa Pig Theme Park, and you can expect to spend three to four days at the LEGOLAND Florida Resort.

Does LEGOLAND Florida get crowded?

While it may sit a bit outside Orlando’s typical tourist bubble, the LEGOLAND Resort can still get seriously crowded, particularly when school is out. Spring break, summer and the holidays are especially busy, as are weekends.

With school back in session, September tends to be on the slower side. However, since there isn’t a lot of shade around the LEGOLAND, it can also be quite hot. For a perfect balance of fewer crowds and balmier temperatures, try to travel during late January, February, October, early November and early December.

What is the best age to go to LEGOLAND?

LEGOLAND is designed with 2- to 12-year-olds in mind. In fact, we’d argue that it’s probably the most kid-friendly theme park in Central Florida, along with the new Peppa Pig Theme Park next door. However, we’d say the sweet spot for LEGOLAND Florida is children between ages 4 to 8.

Many attractions have no height restrictions at all, and for the rides that do, most require a minimum of around 32” or, at most, 52”. That being said, compared to some of the rides over at Central Florida’s other theme parks, LEGOLAND’s offerings are comparably tame. So, don’t be surprised if they aren’t enough to keep some older kids and preteens entertained.

Is LEGOLAND Florida fun for teens?

Though teenagers may be unimpressed by many of the attractions at LEGOLAND – especially after a ride on the likes of Universal’s VelociCoaster, SeaWorld Orlando’s Mako or really any of the roller coasters at Busch Gardens Tampa – there are still a few things around to keep them entertained, like LEGO NINJAGO The Ride, Flying School or The Great LEGO Race (even without the VR). Of course, if that isn’t enough, there’s always the LEGOLAND Water Park.

Can adults go to LEGOLAND Florida without a child?

Unlike LEGOLAND Discovery Centers like those in Dallas and Atlanta, which restrict entry to groups with at least one child, LEGO-obsessed adults are more than welcome at Orlando’s LEGOLAND Theme Park without kiddos in tow.

But, is LEGOLAND Florida worth it for adults, even if they aren’t traveling with kids? It really depends on what you’re into. Though it’s not the park for adrenaline junkies and foodies, as long as you set your expectations accordingly, grown-ups with a penchant for those colorful bricks can still have a fun time snapping selfies, taking in a show or two, zooming around on the handful of roller coasters and scoring an exclusive LEGO set.
