Ultimate Summer at Disneyland 2026: Best Deals, Can’t-Miss Things to Do & Insider Tips

I’ve read a lot of Disneyland summer guides. Most of them give you the same list — buy tickets, get there early, use Lightning Lane. And sure, that stuff matters. But this summer? There’s so much happening at Disneyland Resort that the usual playbook barely scratches the surface!

The last days of the park’s 70th Anniversary Celebration, an absolutely unique version of the iconic ride Soarin’, dedicated to the 250th anniversary of America; the real live appearance of Bluey in Fantasyland, a complete reboot of Star Wars; and a special entrance price for children amounting to $50 are just some highlights of what is happening. Right here in Anaheim!

For a new Disneyland visitor, but even more so for a regular Disneyland guest, such a summer will definitely turn out to be a unique experience. You’ll definitely remember this vacation for a very long time! So here we go,  the offers, attractions, top shows, and insider tips to make your trip that much more magical this summer!

The Deals You Need to Know About

$50 Kids’ Tickets — This Is Huge

Let’s start with the biggest financial news: kids ages 3 to 9 can visit Disneyland this summer for $50 per day. That’s a 1-Day Park Hopper — meaning they get access to both Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure for fifty bucks.

Here’s what makes this year’s deal even better than previous years: park hopping is already included. In 2024 and 2025, that was an add-on you had to pay extra for. Not anymore.

  • 1-Day Park Hopper: $50 per child (ages 3–9)

  • 2-Day Park Hopper: $100 per child

  • 3-Day Park Hopper: $150 per child

  • Valid: May 22 through September 7, 2026

  • Multi-day tickets expire 13 days after first use or September 7, whichever comes first

  • Park reservations are required (for now), so book those ASAP

To put this in perspective, a 3-Day Park Hopper ticket at regular pricing can run over $300 per child. You’re potentially saving $150 to $369 on just the kids’ tickets alone. For a family of four with two little ones, that’s real money back in your pocket!

Save Up to 25% on Disneyland Hotels

Book a stay of 4+ nights at a Disneyland Resort hotel between May 22 and September 7, 2026, and you can save up to 25% on rooms. That applies to:

  • Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa — up to 25% off

  • Disneyland Hotel — up to 25% off

  • The Villas at Disneyland Hotel — up to 25% off

  • Pixar Place Hotel — up to 15% off

If you’re a Disney Visa Cardmember, you can score up to 25% off Premium rooms for Sunday–Thursday stays, and even 20% off Standard rooms. You have to book by August 25, 2026, so don’t sleep on this! The Grand Californian is my personal favorite hotel on property, and saving 25% there is genuinely rare! If you’ve been waiting for an excuse to splurge on it, this summer is your moment!

Magic Key Holder Perks This Summer

If you have a Magic Key annual pass, there are some stacked summer savings worth knowing:

  • Up to 20% off hotel stays Sunday–Thursday at Disneyland Resort hotels (valid through August 25, 2026)

  • 25% off Lightning Lane Multi Pass on your visit days

  • Exclusive Magic Key merchandise and snack experiences

  • Free complimentary Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run Mandalorian and Grogu attraction poster

One heads-up though, Magic Key blockout dates increased significantly in 2026, especially for the Enchant Key tier. June and July have very limited usable days for lower-tier passholders. If you have an Enchant Key and were counting on a summer visit, double-check your calendar before you book flights!

Military Discount Tickets

Active-duty military, veterans, and eligible family members can take advantage of specially priced theme park tickets in 2026, valid January 1 through December 31, 2026. Pick these up at your nearest Military Base Ticket Office. It’s one of the most underused discounts Disney offers, and it applies to both parks!

Celebrate Happy Sign

Your Last Chance For The 70th Anniversary

Disneyland’s 70th Anniversary Celebration runs until August 9, 2026. That’s it. After that, all this spectacular entertainment will go to sleep in the Disney Vault until… well, maybe years? So, if you plan a summer trip to the Happiest Place on Earth, there is definitely a reason to arrive by August 9 because that is when you get the following things to see:

  • “Paint the Night” Parade – one of the best parades Disney created, featuring lighted floats covered with millions of LEDs.
  • “Wondrous Journeys” Fireworks Show Spectacular – an amazing show celebrating 100 years of Disney.
  • “Tapestry of Happiness” Projection – magical transformations of the Sleeping Beauty Castle into the painting of emotions.
  • “World of Color – Happiness!” – an awesome night show that took place on water, and was reinterpreted for the anniversary celebration.
  • The Celebrate Happy Cavalcade – an incredible show with Mickey, Minnie, and their friends wearing outfits dedicated to the 70th Anniversary of Disneyland.

From August 9, the Halloween celebrations will be starting, which means that from now till October you’ll have an opportunity to catch the last day of the anniversary celebration along with the first days of autumn decorations in the park. This is truly amazing!

There have been so many photos and videos on “Paint the Night”, but no matter how cool this parade is, it looks even cooler in reality than in pictures! The scale of the LEDs is something you have to experience standing on Main Street, U.S.A.! If there’s one reason to prioritize an early summer visit over late summer, this is it!

Brand New Things to Do This Summer

Bluey’s Best Day Ever!

Bluey, the beloved Australian animated dog who has become a genuinely universal phenomenon, is now live at Fantasyland Theatre at Disneyland! “Bluey’s Best Day Ever!” features Bluey and Bingo in an interactive live show where kids can dance, sing along, and go full Dance Mode!

This isn’t just a show. There are surprise guest characters from the series, themed food nearby at Troubadour Tavern, and it’s completely included with park admission. For parents of toddlers and young kids, this show might honestly become the highlight of the whole trip, more than any roller coaster. It’s 20 minutes of pure magic that you genuinely can’t replicate anywhere else right now!

Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run — The Mandalorian Update

This is a massive fun upgrade! Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run now features an entirely new mission with Din Djarin (The Mandalorian) and Grogu! The Engineer position finally has a real purpose, after leaving Tatooine, you choose your destination: Bespin, the ruins of the second Death Star at Endor, or Coruscant. There’s even a secret “Grogu Mode” for Engineers where Baby Yoda interacts with you during the mission!

Having ridden the original mission many, many times, this update genuinely changes the replay value. The Engineer seat used to feel like the consolation prize. Now it might be the best seat in the ship!

Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge Gets a Full Timeline Reset

Batuu feels completely different this summer. Disney has added Darth Vader, Leia Organa, Han Solo, and Luke Skywalker to the character lineup, plus new props, original Star Wars musical score, and an expanded storyline that spans both the Galactic Civil War and the New Republic era! This is the Galaxy’s Edge that hardcore fans always wanted. The land now tells a much richer story across multiple timelines, making a second and third visit feel worthwhile in a way the original version didn’t always manage!

The Free Youngling Lightsaber Building Experience

For kids ages 3–9, there’s a free experience at Savi’s Workshop called the Youngling Saber Building Expo – A Loth-Cat Crew Experience. Walk-up availability, daily from 10 AM to 2 PM.

Yes, you can purchase a lightsaber afterward ($249.99 — typical Disney), but the experience itself (the ceremony, the ritual, the Loth-Cat Crew storytelling) is free with admission (not very Disney)! The regular paid Savi’s Workshop experience remains available in the afternoons. Even if your kiddo doesn’t build a saber, they’ll talk about this one for weeks!

Soarin’ Across America Debuts July 2

On July 2, 2026, the beloved Soarin’ attraction at Disney California Adventure gets a brand-new overlay, “Soarin’ Across America”! Timed to the United States’ 250th anniversary, this new film takes you over iconic American landmarks (Kennedy Space Center, Mount Rushmore, Denali, sweeping coastlines, and vibrant cityscapes) with a new musical score by composer Bruce Broughton! This is super exciting!

Patrick Warburton returns as your flight captain for the pre-show! If you’re an EPCOT fan who already rode the Florida version (which opened May 26), the DCA version will feel like a companion piece. Soarin’ Over California goes dark at the end of June to make way for this, so get your last ride in before then if the California film holds a special place in your heart!

Tomorrowland Theater Is Back

After sitting dark for years, the Tomorrowland Theater has reopened with a Pixar Short Film Spotlight consisting of a curated collection of beloved Pixar shorts! It’s not the most headline-grabbing addition this summer, but on a 90-degree July afternoon, you’ll thank yourself for ducking into air conditioning for 20 minutes. Think of it as a built-in cool-down strategy hiding in plain sight!

Dance Parties, Concerts & More

Summer 2026 is seriously loaded on the live entertainment front:

  • Stitch’s Interplanetary Beach Party Blast returns to Tomorrowland Terrace — Stitch DJs a dance party included with park admission

  • Disney Friends Dance Party at Disney Theater in California Adventure, evenings

  • “Celebrate Soulfully: Summer Vibes” runs June 19–July 19, with live concerts at Paradise Gardens Bandstand featuring Top 40, Jazz, Caribbean, Zydeco, and more

  • The Bubbles Experience at Downtown Disney, July 10–August 16 — giant bubbles fill the outdoor air with pop-up photo ops

  • Dug’s Dance Party on the Pixar Place Hotel rooftop, Friday evenings through August

Disneyland

Hotel Perks That Most People Don’t Use

If you’re staying at a Disneyland Resort hotel this summer, don’t just check in and head to the parks. The hotels have their own summer programming that most guests completely walk past:

  • Pool parties at Disneyland Hotel, Grand Californian, and Pixar Place Hotel — starting July 2 through Labor Day weekend, twice weekly with Cast Members, games, and character appearances

  • Outdoor movie nights at Pixar Place Hotel and Disneyland Hotel, select evenings June through September

  • Animation lessons, friendship bracelet making, and Learn to Draw classes — available through the front desk

  • Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar (Disneyland Hotel) just reopened and is celebrating its 15th anniversary with limited-time specialty cocktails

Going to watch movies outdoors under the Californian skies is an underrated form of relaxing after a tiring day spent at the park! The kids have an opportunity to relax without having to return to their room while you relax outdoors in the warmth of the night air. It’s one of those events that becomes the highlight of the trip despite not being part of your plan in the first place!

Crowd & Timing Strategies Nobody Talks About Enough

The “Late August Sweet Spot” Is Real

Most guides will tell you July is peak. They’re right. But here’s what they don’t say clearly enough, the last two weeks of August are some of the least crowded days of the entire year at Disneyland! Many local SoCal schools start back mid-August, family vacations wind down, and the parks noticeably empty out, while summer pricing, hours, and entertainment are still fully in effect!

The 70th Anniversary celebration ends August 9, and Halloween Time begins August 21, meaning you could be there for the very first days of Oogie Boogie season with lighter-than-expected crowds. That’s a combination veteran park-goers absolutely know about but it rarely makes the front page!

Weekdays vs. Weekends

Weekday mornings (especially Sunday evening arrivals through Thursday) consistently see lower crowd levels, largely because of the massive local visitor base that tends to hit the parks hard on Fridays and Saturdays. If you can swing even one weekday in your trip, you’ll notice the difference immediately in wait times!

Early Entry for Hotel Guests

Staying on-site at a Disneyland Resort hotel gets you early entry, 30 minutes before the parks open to the general public. On a busy summer day, that 30 minutes can mean walking onto Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance or Radiator Springs Racers with virtually no wait. It doesn’t sound like much, but on a crowded July day it can make or break your whole morning strategy!

Lightning Lane — When It’s Worth It and When It’s Not

On peak summer days, especially the July 4th holiday week, any weekend in July, and the week after school lets out, Lightning Lane Multi Pass can genuinely save your family 2–3 hours of waiting. On lighter crowd days in late August or early June, you can often manage without it.

Get the Lightning Lane Multi Pass only for days you’re at the parks during peak hours (10 AM–4 PM). If you’re doing early entry, a rope drop morning, and leaving by 2 PM, you may not need it at all.

Hidden Gems Most Visitors Walk Right Past

Even with all the new stuff, Disneyland is still packed with details most guests never notice. Here are a few worth hunting down:

  • The Pet Cemetery near Haunted Mansion — tucked just off the side of the queue, filled with funny and slightly eerie headstones for dearly departed pets.

  • Walt Disney’s apartment window above the Fire Station on Main Street — there’s always a light left on in honor of Walt. Look up when you walk through the main gate.

  • Peter Pan and Wendy’s initials carved into a tree — tucked behind Snow White Grotto, up a couple of steps from the main path.

  • The Monorail front cab — ask a Cast Member if there’s room to ride in the very front. It’s free with admission, and the view is something else entirely.

  • Galaxy’s Edge interactive app hacks — you can hack various machines and communicate with BDX Droids through the Play Disney Parks app.

  • Fireworks from Galaxy’s Edge — during Wondrous Journeys, Star Wars-themed music plays specifically in Batuu. Completely different vibe from Main Street, and the crowd back there is a fraction of the size.

Smart Money Tips for Summer 2026

I know trips like this are expensive, so if there’s any ways to save a few bucks here and there it’s worth doing! I’m listing a few things I’ve found that genuinely save money and tend to get glossed over.

On tickets:

  • Buy directly from Disney or an authorized reseller. Third-party tickets can have issues linking to park reservations.

  • Disneyland has a record number of lowest-priced ticket days in 2026, concentrated in early June. July and August have very few, so if your dates are flexible, early June is where the savings are!

  • Adult Lightning Lane Multi Pass runs $25–$35+ per person depending on the day. On a 4-person trip, that’s $100–$140 per day just for skip-the-line access. Budget for it or go in knowing your standby strategy!

On food:

  • Disney’s snack culture is very real, but it can drain your wallet fast. Pro move: eat a solid breakfast before arriving, then save your park food budget for the things that are actually worth it, like the legendary Monte Cristo at Blue Bayou, the new Muppets-themed popcorn buckets, or the Dubai chocolate-inspired desserts that debuted in 2026!

  • Magic Key holders get 10–15% off dining at most table-service restaurants. Even on a single lunch, that adds up!

On hotels:

  • The Grand Californian’s Napa Rose is a splurge dinner experience, but the fireplace lobby and lounge are free to enjoy! You can grab a drink at the Hearthstone Lounge and soak in the craftsman architecture for the cost of a cocktail.

  • Staying at the Grand Californian also gives you a private entrance directly into Disney California Adventure, saving you the walk from the main entrance every single morning. Over a 3-day trip, that adds up to real time saved!

What’s Coming After Summer (Plan Ahead!)

How do you decide whether to go for the summer months or for the Fall? Here’s what you need to know, Halloween Time officially starts on August 21, 2026. This means that there will be two weeks of Halloween Time that coincide with summertime. Tickets for Oogie Boogie Bash – A Disney Halloween Party (the Halloween night party at Disney California Adventure) tend to be available only for a brief period after being put up for sale. So check Disney’s website from June onwards!

From September 8, the Kids’ Summer Ticket offer and general discounts on hotels will no longer apply. If you are interested in both of these aspects, then consider booking your vacation for August 21 to September 7.

Your Disneyland Summer 2026 Questions Answered

Is the $50 kids’ ticket actually a Park Hopper?

Yes! The 2026 Kids’ Summer Ticket comes with Park Hopper capabilities. This includes admission to both Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure for this one price point. Last year park hopping was an extra cost option!

Do I need a park reservation even if I’m just getting the kids’ tickets?

Yes, all guests are required to book a park reservation for that same day and they are available only if spaces are available. Get yours when you buy your tickets!

When will the 70th Anniversary Celebration end?

August 9, 2026. From that date on, Paint the Night, Wondrous Journeys, Tapestry of Happiness, and World of Color – Happiness are not going to operate as a part of the celebration.

When will Soarin’ Across America open at Disneyland Park?

Soarin’ Around the World at Epcot opened on May 26, 2026, while Soarin’ Across America at Disneyland Park opens on July 2, 2026! If you plan on visiting the latter, remember Soarin’ Over California closes before it, so make sure to experience it too if you can before June ends.

Is Lightning Lane worth it in summer 2026?

Absolutely, especially in the summer when there’s more visitors around. Definitely consider Lightning Lane on the busier days like July 4th week and weekends of July. Otherwise, on slower late August and early June weekdays, you can skip it with proper planning.

What’s the recommended age for the “Bluey’s Best Day Ever” show?

Young kids in the 2-7 range will have the most fun, but older children and grown-ups will find enjoyment here too. It lasts for about 20 minutes, and it is included with your admission!

Is there something that kids can do for free in Galaxy’s Edge?

Yes, in fact, there’s a Youngling Saber Building Expo happening free of charge daily between 10 AM and 2 PM. You don’t have to buy anything when it’s over, but Disney surely would love it if you did!

What’s the best time of summer to visit Disneyland Park?

Late August after the 14th when most SoCal schools reopen is pretty much when it’s less crowded. Early June weekdays also are easy to handle, with cheap single-day tickets as well.

Can I save money on a Disneyland Resort hotel without my annual pass?

Sure, the general summer discount is up to 25% off for 4+ night stays in May 22-September 7, 2026. Annual passes not needed! Add another layer of savings if you’re a Disney Visa Cardmember.

Is Trader Sam’s still open?

Definitely! At Disneyland Hotel, Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar reopened earlier this year, and now it celebrates its 15th anniversary with limited editions. It gets very busy in the evening, so you might want to try it as soon as it opens!

Wrapping Things Up

Summer 2026 at Disneyland is one of those rare seasons where everything lines up at once. The deals are better than they’ve been in years, the entertainment lineup is genuinely stacked from top to bottom, and the window to see it all (especially that 70th Anniversary finale) is closing faster than you might realize!

Whether you’re going with toddlers who’ll meet Bluey for the very first time, teenagers who want to fly the Millennium Falcon with Mando and Grogu, or you’re a couple sneaking away for a long-overdue escape, there’s something happening this summer that’ll feel like it was made just for you! Don’t wait too long though! Some of this magic has an expiration date, and that expiration date is August 9.
